Villa Charities Introduces "In Bocca," a New Culture and Culinary Series

Artist: Bina Cole Title: Family Matters Medium: Acrylic, Mixed Media On Canvas

Villa Charities is pleased to introduce "In Bocca," a new culture and culinary series that will be a regular feature at the Columbus Centre.

The series opens on the evening of Tuesday, November 8 with a presentation on the Italians of the Jewish Ghetto in Rome and their role in helping the Jewish people during WWII. This special event, featuring guest speaker Emanuele Sica, History Professor at Royal Military College and an Italian scholar, is presented in honour of Holocaust Education Week.

In addition, Canadian artist Bina Cole will speak about her new exhibition, "Out of Order / Beyond Order," which opens at the Carrier Gallery on November 9 and continues to December 5. This powerful exhibit illustrates how external influences including world events disrupt our order, and how the family offers a counterweight to those disruptions.

Guests will enjoy a delectable prix-fixe Roman Jewish-themed dinner.

Villa Colombo Toronto Celebrates Community Program Volunteers

Villa Colombo Toronto held its annual Volunteer Recognition Lunch on Oct. 6 to celebrate and recognize the men and women who generously contribute their time to Villa Colombo Services for Seniors programs.

Just over 30,000 volunteer hours were contributed last year to Villa Colombo's Adult Day Programs for seniors living at home, Meals on Wheels and other programs. The Volunteer office has set a goal to increase the number of volunteer hours by 10% in 2016. There are just over two months to go to meet the goal!

Villa Colombo Services for Seniors is currently recruiting volunteers to assist with day to day programs as well as our "12 Days of Christmas" programs. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Domenica Bevacqua at 416-789-2113 2216.
